The Company
GBG Group is a market leader in structural and geophysical site investigation. A privately owned engineering specialist offering bespoke building remediation, investigation, testing and consultancy services on historical and modern buildings across the UK and internationally.
We provide forensic engineering consultancy, inspection, testing and analysis of structures, buildings and infrastructure, including geotechnical evaluation, structural performance and remedial design.
With offices in the UK, USA, and Australia, we work with a diverse portfolio of clients, including architects, engineers, government bodies, and asset owners, on projects ranging from historically significant buildings to modern structures and infrastructure.
We're a company that values innovation, collaboration, and professional development.
The Role
Working under the supervision of our Senior Geospatial Technologist, you'll be involved in:
- Laser scanning and photogrammetry - survey, data processing, registration, and CAD integration
- Data analysis and automation - developing workflows to streamline processing and visualisation
- Specialist surveying - supporting gravimetric surveys, modal analysis, and vibration monitoring projects
- Technical support - general IT support and contributing to bespoke software tools
This role offers genuine variety - you'll divide your time between fieldwork, desk-based analysis, and automation/development work. Much of the industry-specific knowledge can be learned on the job, but you'll need strong fundamentals to build on.
The Challenges
The application process for this role gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your general ability to see and understand the underlying nature of data, and reduce it so its essence can be communicated more easily to others.
Each challenge will present you with some data, from which you need to extract something.
We've designed them to be as accessible as possible, not necessarily requiring any specific technical skills. If you have a computer and internet connection then you have everything you need, but feel free to use whatever resources you have at your disposal.
Coding skills and an aptitude for abstract mathematical concepts are not essential to complete the challenges, but they will help, and are definitely of interest to us for this role.
Submission
When you think you've figured them all out, or as many as possible, submit your findings using the form provided, along with any brief supporting notes or thoughts. You should also upload your CV in PDF or DOCX format.
Entries will close at midnight on Sunday 29th March 2026.
